Do you know that there is an uninhabited island in Incheon which is within an easy distance? It regularly appears on various entertainment shows: Running Man; Muhandojeon; 2 days and 1 night; and Daddy where we go, when they feature deserted islands.
The answer is Saseungbongdo Island in Seungbong-ri, Jawol-meon, Ongjin-gun.
Local people call it Sado which has a sandy beach with 4km long and 2km wide.

Thanks to small tidal range and clean and fine sandy beach, the island is a nice place for swimming, camping and fishing.
At low tide, visitors can pick up sea snails, turban shells, octopuses, crabs and more.

Visitors have to transfer to get to the island - taking a ship at Incheon Coastal passenger Terminal or Daebudo Island Bangameori quay, and then getting off the boat at Seungbongdo Island. Private boats are available at Seungbongdo Island. In group, the fare would be 15000 won per person. But a lone passenger pays about 100000 won. It is highly advisable to share the boat. If not available, a lady in charge of the island will help arrange it.

Though it is an unpeopled island, it is a private land. An administrator resides and admission fee of 10000 won is required.
The fee is used for water-supply, portable toilet, and maintenance. It can be the minimum charge to preserve the island as it is.

The West Sea usually gives the image of mud flat or muddy water.
But the sea at the island is clear to the bottom. It is as good as the other seas in the peninsula and even the Mediterranean. Clam waves and long beach is ideal location for kids to play. No need to worry about the ebb is another advantage.

At low tide, visitors can dig out clams and pick turban shells on the rocks. You can have a big catch in a relatively short time.
While it will be impressive experience for children, it is nostalgic for the elders. The island is a perfect site for friends as well as families.
