With the rise of K-contents, tons of tourists are flocking to Korea, hunting down the filming locations of their favorite shows - and Incheon is no exception. The Incheon Asiad Main Stadium - Where NewJeans Shot the Music Video for “Attention”

At the height of summer, on July 22, 2022, five girls made their debut as NewJeans. The debut of this new girl band was enthusiastically received by the general public. Pre-orders for their debut album exceeded 440,000, and the songs themselves made their way onto various charts despite the unorthodox method of releasing the music video before songs. The music video for their debut single, “Attention”, reached 67 million views as of August 2024. The Incheon Asiad Main Stadium was the location where the memorable scene of NewJeans dancing with youthful energy and power against the blue sky and green grass was filmed.

The Incheon Asiad Main Stadium is a multipurpose venue built for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, under the themes of light, wind, and dance. It is mainly used as a venue for major concerts and as a filming location for content such as cultural and sports events, movies, K-dramas, and music videos. The stadium also offers a group tour program.

The one-hour group tour program starts at 10:00 from Tuesday to Friday. It takes visitors to three area: the Exhibition Hall, Virtual Experience Hall, and the Main Stadium. The Exhibition Hall features the torch and the award podium, while the Virtual Experience Hall offers VR archery, shooting (rifle and pistol), and football experiences.

The last stop on the tour is the Main Stadium, where the NewJeans music video Attention was filmed. Here you can play ball and walk around the grassy field with a football instructor, do physical activities like card stunts and tug-of-war, and visit the running track. The tour program must be reserved through the website at least one week in advance. Group tours have the minimum size of 10 people, and individual visitors can reserve their spot through the same website.

The Incheon Asiad Auxiliary Stadium is open to the public during opening hours. Locals really enjoy the nearby Barefoot Walking Path, especially with its fun themed trails like sand, pebble, and clay ball paths.

Wolmi Theme Park - the Filming Location of Netflix Show “Doona!”

Doona! is a Netflix show that depicts a turbulent story of young love. Wolmi Theme Park was featured in the iconic scene where Doo-na (Bae Suzy) visits Won-jun (Yang Se-jong) at work.

Since Won-jun spends his time attending classes and working part-time, Doo-na decides to visit him at Wolmi Theme Park, where he works part-time. Doo-na arrives at the park and rides the rides alone while she waits for Won-jun to finish his work.

After Won-jun wraps up his work, he decides to hop on the merry-go-round with Doo-na. That moment when they exchange smiles in front of the ride is often called one of the show’s most romantic scenes. Wolmi Theme Park gets a lot of screen time in popular shows, and it’s probably because of its awesome ocean view and cool retro vibe. With nearly 30 attractions, including the famous disco pang pang with its famous DJ, and the classic merry-go-round, it’s a spot where you can go solo like Doo-na or hang out with friends, family, or someone special. Filming Location of the JTBC Show “King the Land”, Paradise City

The show “King the Land” is a rom-com that follows the romance between Gu Won (Lee Jun-ho), the heir to the King Hotel, and Cheon Sa-rang (Im Yoon-ah), an employee of the hotel. Since it is set in a hotel franchise, it features several hotels in Incheon, Seoul, and Jeju. One of the hotels featured in the show is Incheon’s very own Paradise City.

Sa-rang, who initially joins the hotel as a month-long intern, quickly rises through the ranks of the hotel thanks to her unfailing smile and kindness, and eventually joins the VVIP lounge “King the Land”. + Her internship interview and award ceremony were both filmed in Paradise City’s meeting room. The ceremony that welcomed Gu Won back to the hotel in episode 2, when he took over as general manager, was also filmed in Paradise City. This scene was filmed in Paradise City’s grand ballroom to bring the grand and luxurious image of the King Hotel into reality. In fact, Paradise City’s grand ballroom is one of the largest event venues among five-star hotels in Korea, capable of hosting large-scale events such as international conferences, award ceremonies, and wedding receptions.

Cheongna Lake Park – the Filming Location of Netflix Show “The Glory”

The show “The Glory”, which aired in the first half of 2023, was so popular that it became the most popular non-English series on Netflix. “The Glory” is a story of about the revenge of a victim of school violence. The protagonist, Moon Dong-eun (Song Hye-kyo), learns the game of go, or ‘baduk’ in Korean, for her revenge. She gets closer to her teacher, Joo Yeo-jeong (Lee Do-hyun), and finally tells him about her past.

Cheongna Lake Park featured prominently in scenes that drove the compelling plot forward. The scene where Park Yeon-jin (Lim Ji-yeon), the leader of the bullies who tormented Dong-eun, and her husband Ha Do-yeong (Jung Sung-il) played go against Joo Yeo-jeong for the first time, and the scene where Moon Dong-eun tells Joo Yeo-jeong her story while playing go were both filmed at Baduk Park, which is located next to the Cheongnaru Pavilion in Cheongna Lake Park.

Baduk Park was originally a set built for the filming of the show in Cheongna Lake Park, which included two approx. 285㎡-wide baduk (go) boards and large baduk stones. Although the props were dismantled after the filming, the Incheon Metropolitan Government retained some of the sculptures and renovated the area to create Baduk Park. It has a plaque commemorating the filming of the show. Baduk Park has tables and chairs that were used in the show, and one side of the park has large go stones that serve as excellent backdrops for photography. Before Cheongna Lake Park became an iconic spot in Incheon thanks to the show’s popularity, it was a popular hangout spot for the residents of the city. In addition to the Cheongnaru Pavilion, the park features a heart-shaped sculpture, musical fountain, the Rose Garden, forest playground, and Cheongna Marine for water sports.
