During the year-end season, when a giant Christmas tree and a festive Christmas market fill Plaza Square, it becomes a must-visit date spot for couples.
As you enter the square, you’ll notice a train station and a miniature train suspended in midair, like a scene lifted straight from a storybook. It almost feels as if a Christmas express might come flying in at any moment, cutting through flurries of snow. Step inside the station, and you’ll find a photo zone adorned with red velvet curtains, chandeliers, and dazzling decorations. Here, couples can capture picture-perfect moments, as if they were the stars of a movie.
At the market, you’ll find a wide selection of Christmas items, including tree ornaments, wreaths, snowman dolls, and limited-edition goods, along with hands-on programs such as DIY music box making. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, special events are held where visitors can take commemorative photos with Santa Claus. Pairing your visit with the Christmas-themed Aurora show at nearby Inspire Resort makes the experience even more romantic.

SPOT3 A Christmas-Filled Ocean-View Café: Terrace in Seaside
Terrace in Seaside is a popular ocean-view café offering panoramic views of the sea along Yeongjongdo Island, with floor-to-ceiling windows and rooftop seating. Each year, the outdoor area is decorated with a Christmas tree, and this year’s theme is “Christmas in the Rabbit’s Carrot Patch.” Baskets brimming with carrots, plush white cushion sofas, checkered blankets, and straw hats are arranged in charming detail throughout the space.
The indoor space is also filled with Christmas touches, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. The bakery corner, stocked with freshly baked bread and desserts, is another highlight. Seasonal favorites include waffles and croissants generously topped with strawberries, as well as drinks finished with festive Christmas decorations.

SPOT4 A Sparkling Nightscape: Byeolbit Square in Yeongjong Sky City
The final stop on the Yeongjongdo Island date course is Byeolbit Square, a night-view spot that shines even brighter in winter. The towering tree at the center of the square is so massive it’s hard to take in at once. Topped with a glowing star, the tree completes a festival of light in the city.
Various installations, including penguin-shaped lights and butterfly objects, are scattered throughout the square. Among them, the roughly 30-meter-long “Star Gate” is especially captivating. Multicolored star-shaped lights form a tunnel-like path, creating an ethereal atmosphere where starlight seems to pour in from every direction. Walking hand in hand through the shimmering lights, couples who have only just begun their romance can’t help but feel their hearts flutter.
After a stroll around the square, sit on a bench or a swing chair and enjoy the remaining time. With plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, it’s also a great place to wrap up the day with a warm drink.
