Goryeogung Palace Site is a peaceful place and it is good to take a walk with your lover and family. Goryeo moved the capital from Gaegyeong to Ganghwado Island to avoid the invasion of the Mongols and built a palace here. Unfortunately, the palace was destroyed in 1270 by a peace treaty with the Mongols. The buildings built in the Joseon Dynasty, Temporary Palace , Magistrate’s office, and Oegyujanggak (restored in 2003) remain.
