In the past, Gyodongdo Island was the gateway to Seoul and Gaesung. Gyodonghyanggyo Bridge was built in 1127, and when Munseonggong An Hyang visited the Yuan Dynasty, he brought the statues of Confucius and Zhu Xi, and enshrined the images. There is Gyodongeupseong Fortress which was built in 1629 (King Injo of Joseon year 7).
