It is a mysterious thing to look at rocks as white as a beautiful woman wearing white powder (bun) on her face. At night, it takes the moonlight and shines white. That's why they called it "stromatolite" In the days when there was no lighthouse, ships used the rock in the distance to find the direction. Stromatolite is a fossil that is produced by cyanobacteria living in the sea or lake. Socheongdo Stromatolite is the oldest bacterial fossil in Korea and is called oystershells rock.
